Zola Frances Claxon, age 84 of Louisville, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012. She was born in Mt. Eden, Kentucky on January 10, 1928. She was a retiree of Southern High School where she worked for many years. After her retirement, Zola was active as a caregiver of others, often volunteering in church and community activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Sintha Goodlet Whitehouse, and several sisters and a brother.
Zola is survived by her children, Ernie Claxon and Jan Broyles (Wesley); sister, Louise Monroe; 4 grandchildren, Scott Claxon (Jennifer), Joshua Claxon, Jason Broyles (Kim), Aaron Broyles (Laura); 1 great-grandchild, Maddie Claxon with 1 angel to come.
Funeral ceremony will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with visitation there on Monday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent care of our Mother.
