Yvonne Chappell

June 18, 1945 — March 12, 2025

Yvonne Chappell, a beacon of warmth and joy, was born on June 18, 1945, and departed from this world on March 12, 2025. Her fun-loving personality brightened the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Yvonne’s laughter was contagious, and her spirit resonated with a vibrant energy that made even the simplest moments unforgettable.

A true devotee of the UofL Cardinals, Yvonne wore her team’s colors with pride, her enthusiasm evident in every conversation about their games. Cheering them on watching them on, her love for the Cardinals was a cherished part of her life. She carried this passion over into her love for traveling and dining out, finding joy not only in the destination, but in the company she kept at the table.

Yvonne experienced profound joy through music, often filling the air with her soothing renditions of gospel songs. It was in these moments of song that her spirit truly shined, inspiring those around her with the power of melody and faith, especially with her favorite song "Precious Lord"

She was also an avid knitter, wrapping her loved ones in warmth with every stitch, and her thrilling games of BINGO delighted friends and family alike. These hobbies showcased not just her artistic talents but also her ability to bring people together, cultivating community and connection wherever she ventured.

As we remember Yvonne Chappell, let us reflect on a life deeply lived, where laughter echoed, love was shared, and connections were forged. Those who knew her will forever hold her memory in their hearts, cherishing the joyful moments and the heartfelt melodies she so generously shared. In celebrating her life, we honor her legacy of love, laughter, and vibrant zest for life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lucille Wells; siblings, Mary Catherine Patterson, Mary Blossom Keith, Jerry Wells and Joe Lewis Wells.

Yvonne leaves behind to cherish her memories her sisters, Lonetta Taylor Wells and Josephine Sydnor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will be having a private memorial service at a later date.
