Winnie J. Mickens

Winnie J. Mickens, 97, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Winnie enjoyed history, plants, socializing, and most importantly spending time with her family. She was a proud member of Bethel AME Church where she dedicated her love to Christ, sang in the choir, and served on various boards. Winnie was also a Past Worthy Matron -Elected Chapter Order of Eastern Star and a member for over fifty years.

She was born on November 25, 1925 to Miller Johnson and Mary Parker. Winnie was raised by her father and Augusta Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Mickens, Sr.; parents; grandchild, Eric Parker; brother, Miller Johnson, Jr.; and sister, Mattie Martin.

Winnie is survived by her loving children, Janet (Donald Ray) Washington, Jackie (Omega) Robinson, Jerry Robinson, Joseph (Lisa) Robinson, Jeffery (Tarraly) Robinson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Bethel AME Church, (315 East Fifth Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, at Bethel AME Church with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington, Kentucky.
