Wilma Jean Roland

Wilma Jean Roland, 67, departed this life and returned to her Heavenly Father on June 28, 2013. She worked for Riverview Village as a nurse aid for over 30 years and was a member of Bethel AME Church in New Albany. Wilma was born on September 13, 1945 in Pocahontas, Virginia. The Roland family moved from New York to New Albany, Indiana to reunite with her sisters in 1978.

She was the youngest of four sisters born to the late Gladys (Barnes) and Will Roland. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lillian Young, Rosalinda Roland; and her significant other, Othella Marshall.

Wilma leaves to cherish fond memories children, Michelle Roland, Angelia Roland and her wife, Lorene Barnes, Anthony Tyrone Roland, Bruce Roland and his wife, Staci Roland; sister, Wanda Boyd; grandchildren, Lamont Roland, Ashley Ford, LaMar Roland Brackens, Travis Starks, Corbin Starks, Tenale Roland, Brenden Roland, ShaDae Roland, Lakin Roland, Bryce Roland, Zakary Roland, Xylon Roland; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at Bethel AME Church (315 E. 5th Street, New Albany) with cremation to follow.
