Wilma Jean Colvin Jackson, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away at Norton Audubon Hospital on October 23, 2022. Wilma was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Lewis and Velma Colvin on May 20, 1947.
Wilma graduated from East Tech High School. She was a church member of University Liberty Christ Kingdom. She wore many hats, not only as a mother and grandmother, but as a realtor, Mary Kay consultant, an owner of a coffee business, and employment with Ford Motor Company. She worked with Ford from 1972 – 2001 and retired in 2001.
Wilma could be found in the garden, cooking in the kitchen, traveling to new places, and spending time with her grandchildren. Wilma Jean, our loving mother, was beautiful inside and out. She always took great care of herself. She was a very funny person and loved her family. She was very generous, kind, and nurturing. She was always a great support to her family and was a very spiritual person. She had a great love for black and white films.
Wilma is preceded by her parents, Lewis and Velma Colvin; her siblings, Merrill Colvin, and Etrulla Colvin; her ex-husband, David Jackson, and her grandson, Jacques Jackson. She leaves behind to continue her legacy, her daughters, Yonnaise Colvin, Cherri Jackson, Dionne Jackson, and Jacqueline Jackson; her significant other, Yusef Shahid; her siblings, Velvet Colvin Farmer, Bobby Colvin, and Cleo McCoy; her grandchildren, Lynell (Melemel) Colvin, Kevin Jackson Jr., Malcolm Jackson, Deja Russell, Matthew Jackson, Marvel Jackson, Catrice Simmons, Curtis Simpson, Najee Mixon, and Jayla Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Jamel Colvin, Jayvon Colvin, Nevaeh West, Nyla Colvin, Jada Colvin, Nyaire Colvin, King Colvin, West Colvin, Ava Colvin, Micah Monroe, Keith McCully Jr., Ayden Byrd, Andrew Byrd, Ayce Handley, Luke Jackson, Kaylen Jackson, and Addie Jackson; one great great grandchild, Jamel Colvin Jr., as well as other family members and friends who will all miss her very much.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky, 40243) from 11:00am - 1:00pm with a prayer service to begin at 1:00pm.
