William Delbert Starks, Sr.

William Delbert "Shorty" Starks, Sr., 81, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Delbert loved being outdoors, whether it be gardening, fishing, or taking walks. He was an avid UK fan and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Delbert was born on March 20, 1936, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late William and Mary (Robertson) Starks. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Vernon Gallagher; and sisters, Mildred L. Bowyer, Helen E. Allen, and Mary F. Ross.

Delbert is survived by his sons, William Starks, Jr. (Christine), and Peyton Starks; grandchildren, Amber L. Starks, William D. Starks III, and Briana C. Starks; step-grandchildren, Antonio J. Starks and Ausetta L. Chiamaka; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
