William Joseph Sils

William "Joe" Joseph Sils, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend. He was a family man and loved making memories with his nieces and nephews. Joe was an extravagant story teller, an avid car racing fan, and a trivia champion. He enjoyed making others laugh with his jokes and pranks. Joe will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on July 5, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Edna (Hammond) Sils. He is preceded in death by his father, William Theodore Sils; and mother, Edna Catherine Sils.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janie Sils; sister, Marsha Sils; nephews, Patrick (Kelli) Walsh, Andrew Walsh; nieces, Brittani Gamble, Emily Couture; great nieces and nephews, Garrett Walsh, Kaitlyn Walsh, Isaac Walsh; fur baby, Jo-Jo; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.

The family requests that contributions in Joe's memory be made to Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, to assist with final expenses.
