William Ronald Robertson, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022.
He was born on September 12, 1946 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Frank and Foye (Risner) Robertson. As a young child he moved to Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and The University of Toledo. He married his wife Nancie on February 26, 1971. Ron worked as a clerk for the Grand Trunk and Canadian National Railroad, retiring in 2000. Ron and Nancie then moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2001.
Ron was a loving and giving husband, grandfather and brother. He was dedicated to his sons and also the sports that they chose to participate in, which were football, baseball and hockey. He coached them in football and baseball and then continued as the head coach for the Meadowvale Eagles Football for 30 years. After the move to Louisville, he continued to coach another 11 years commuting to Toledo from August-November. He devoted himself to the youth in our community and his family is proud of his devotion to the many players, cheerleaders, coaches and the program. He was a great fan of The University of Toledo Rockets Football and the Louisville Cardinals Football and Basketball programs.
Ron loved beagles and had 10 over the last 51 years, they were all his special friends. Seven will be waiting to greet him in heaven.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Nancie of 51 years, sons Derek (Sarah) of Cincinnati and Keith (Gabrielle) of Louisville, his sisters Linda (Francis) Smith, Sue (Paul) Maclam, Tricia (DeWain) Emerick and Lisa (Joe) Meszaros. Also surviving are his grandchildren Luke, Maya, Braden and Owen. Surviving also are brother-in-laws Dean (Kathy) Adams, Carl Krueger and many nieces and nephews. The beagles that survive are Izzie, Hank and the new puppy he got to enjoy, Remy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Darlene Krueger.
A special thank you to the staff of Forest Springs, especially Courtney and Meg and the Hosparus of Louisville staff, especially Fran, Crystal and Allie. They provided wonderful care and support for Ron and his family. A very special thanks to Nancie's nephew Kent Krueger for his constant support over the last four years and especially the last several months.
Ron had requested cremation and no funeral services, with his ashes spread over his two favorite spots at a later date. A private celebration of his life will take place on October 8, 2022.
