William Louis Richart

March 27, 1931 — May 15, 2023

William Louis Richart, 92, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023. He was a United States Army veteran, who proudly served his country during the Korean War. Bill was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and Bellarmine University, both in Louisville. He had over a 30-year successful career as a chemist and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Bill was a kind and gentle man, always greeting you with a warm smile and genuine interest. He will always be remembered as beloved Uncle Bill. He was born on March 27, 1931, in New Albany, Indiana, to Louis and Leoda (Elbers) Richart. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Tony, Rita, and John Richart, and JoAnne Heard; and sister-in-law, Glenda Richart.

Bill is survived by his sister-in-law, Marla Richart; nieces and nephew, Christopher Richart (Malissa), Tracey Caparrelli, Frances Stone, and Tiffany Smith (Bo); and great-nieces and -nephews, Keith Gullett, Christina and Ashley Richart, Nikki Caparrelli, and Braylon and Coleton Smith.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with his funeral mass being celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
