William Murphy, Jr.

William Murphy, Jr., age 85, of Finchville, KY., passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. He was born on July 20, 1930 in Finchville, KY., to the late William Murphy, Sr. and Sarah Sheckles Murphy. William was a member of the Elk Creek Missionary Baptist Church, the Brotherhood singing group, and served as treasurer and member of the Deacon Board. William was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Moore Murphy; two grandsons, Dennis Jr. and Matthew S. Murphy; and his siblings, Katie Davis, Myrtle Shouse, Virginia Beckham and John Murphy; his son-in-law, Bernard Stone.

William is survived by his loving children, Charles E. Murphy (Delores), William C. Murphy, JoAnn Thompson (Leonard), Brenda Stoner (Morris), Dennis C. Murphy (Yandell), Peggy Stone, Jacqueline Parris (Donald), Calvin Murphy (Sandra), Garry L. Murphy, Jeffrey S. Murphy (Beverly) and Gregory Murphy; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Clark Murphy and Mary Davis; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 3-8pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. Funeral ceremony will be 11am Saturday, July 9th at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Shelbyville, KY.
