William I. McNaughton, 91, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany. A U.S. Navy veteran, Bill proudly served in both World War II and Korea. He retired from E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company in Louisville. An amateur guitarist and bass fisherman at heart, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill was born on October 11, 1919 in Magnet, Indiana to the late Forrest L. and Grace M. (Lynch) McNaughton. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Viola Kay (Demerly) McNaughton.
He is survived by his children, Carol White of Sellersburg, John "Jack" McNaughton (Nancy) of Lafayette, Indiana, Jean Conklin of Martinsville, Indiana, Mary "Maggie" Jones (Russell) of Elizabeth, Indiana, and Diana Britt of New Albany; sisters, Thelma McNaughton and Jean Jackson (Earl), formerly of New Albany; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home followed by burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
