William Mark Ray, age 60 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a retired Master Sergeant in the Kentucky Air National Guard, where he served as an aircraft technician. He was also a Human Resources Officer for the Kentucky Army and Air National Guard. Mark was an avid sportsman and loved competitive sports. Talented in so many arenas, he built musical instruments, could do almost anything he set his mind to and was loved collecting and building guns. He was a member of the NRA. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, William Max and Wilkie Paula Wilkerson Ray; and a grandson, Grant Livers.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Gladys Sparkman Ray; children, William Thomas Ray (Carolyn), Shelli Ray Waldridge (Billy); step-daughter, Ann Flener (Marty); grandchildren, Devin Flener, Rebekah Waldridge and Gracey Waldridge; and also a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mark's life will be 7pm Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with visitation there from 4pm until time of service.
