William L. Baxter, 79, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home in Sellersburg, Indiana with his family by his side. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and retired from Essroc in Speed. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He also loved playing softball, going golfing, and spending time with his family.
He was born on November 15, 1933 in Speed, Indiana to the late Raymond G. and Ester (Briner) Baxter. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 59 years, Margaret M. (Fendley) Baxter; children, Debra Willoughby (Charles), John Baxter, Beverly Schulz, Hayden Willoughby; siblings, Dee Newbill, Leland Baxter (Joan), John Baxter (Margaret); granddaughter, Rhonda Willoughby; great-granddaughters, Grace and Izzy Willoughby.
Cremation was chosen following Bill's wishes. Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. The family requests that contributions in Bill's memory be made to Hosparus – the Community Hosparus of southern Indiana.
