William Joseph Beckman, 56, of New Albany, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his family's home. He graduated from New Albany High School in 1974. Bill was a retired journeyman ironworker from Ironworkers' Union Local 70 in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Bill was a loving and caring son, brother, and friend and was an avid I.U. fan and supporter. Bill carried a lot of pain and suffering throughout his adult life. Now his suffering and pain are over; and he is enjoying eternity in heaven with his Holy and Loving Father, Jesus Christ.
Bill was born on May 23, 1955 at St. Edward's Hospital in New Albany to Marie Beckman and the late Everett "Joe" Beckman.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his eight brothers and sisters, Pamela Stephens of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Beverly Leonhardt of Clarksville, Indiana, Gary Beckman of Borden, Indiana, Cynthia Stevenson of Georgetown, Indiana, Steven "John" Beckman of Milltown, Indiana, James "Jim" Beckman of Orange, California, Richard Beckman of San Rafael, California, and Lynn Timmons of New Albany and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana) followed by burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
