William Gerard Hibdon

William "Bill" Gerard Hibdon, 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Bill was devoted to his family and the Catholic Church. He was an active member in his community, serving as a volunteer firefighter in Pleasure Ridge Park. He contributed to St. Paul's Catholic Church in multiple ways including as a member of the men's club. A retired Sergeant of the Louisville Metro Corrections Department, he was an active member of the FOP holding multiple positions including President and Secretary, raising money for various charitable organizations for over 40 years. He was especially passionate about The Special Olympics, participating many years in the Polar Plunge. His favorite charitable program was Shop with a Cop.

He was born on December 31, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Thelma (Flesch) Hibdon. He is preceded in death by his Father, William Albert Hibdon, Mother, Thelma Hibdon, Wife, Barrie Rhea Hibdon, and Sister, Barbara Beck.

Bill is survived by his loving family, Children, Mary Melissa (Ben) Channon, Sarah Jane O'Nan, and W. Austin (Brittany Gray) Hibdon; Grandchildren, Avalei Hibdon, Hugh Hibdon, Jack Channon, Wyatt O'Nan, Molly Hibdon, and Mayer Channon, as well as a host of family and friends to cherish his memory forever.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 12, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Following the service everyone will be meeting at Cresent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, Kentucky (Old Glasgow Rd. Scottsville, KY 42164) at 12:30 pm CST.
