William H. "Bill" Palmer, Sr., 85, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012. He was the owner of Palmer Roofing Company and a huge UofL fan. Bill joined the Navy during WWII to fight alongside his brother, Al, and was a Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and could easily be described as a people person. Bill truly loved his children and grandchildren.
Bill was born on June 18, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Allan and Emma (McCord) Palmer, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. (Dupin) Palmer.
He is survived by his children, Debra Hanna (Rodney), Bill Palmer, Jr. (Kim); brothers, Al Palmer (Lib), Chip Palmer (Boogie); 7 grandchildren and loving friend and companion, Ruth Grief.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany). His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (New Church) with a private entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
