William James "Bill" Griffiths, 87, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg.
He was born on July 19, 1935, in Columbus, Indiana, to the late Robert Griffiths and Mabel Bennie Griffiths.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who served as a medic. He went on to own and operate a barber shop in Linton, Indiana. He enjoyed being a member of the Elks in Linton and a Masonic Lodge member. He traveled for years as a pipe fitter, and that job brought him to Scott County early in the 1980s. Once he retired from pipe fitting, he purchased a small store in Blocher, Indiana, which he named "Griffiths General Store." Bill was an avid IU fan. In his spare time, he always enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, camping at Hardy Lake, and gardening. Bill was a faithful member of Solid Rock Community Church.
Along with his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Marcella (Shuler) Griffiths.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Gary) Rooksberry of Pleasantville, Indiana, and Jennifer (David) Glock of Linton, Indiana; stepdaughter, Pamela (Ron) Gholson of North Vernon, Indiana; stepson, John Pearson of Scottsburg, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Rilee Rooksberry, Josh Rooksberry, Megan Johnson, Alec Johnson, Clay Johnson, Devin Gholson, Ashley Gholson, Hannah Pearson, Kenley Pearson, and Blaze Pearson; 6 great-grandchildren; and many Shuler in-laws who dearly loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Solid Rock Community Church (3203 N. Blanton Rd., Scottsburg, IN 47170). A Private family inurnment will take place at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana, at a later date.
