William "Gene" Peacock, Jr.

William E. "Gene" Peacock, Jr., 68, passed away on July 22, 2012 at his home. He retired from the railroad and was the former owner and agent of the American National Insurance Group. Gene was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion Post 28 Bonnie Sloan. He also enjoyed going fishing and playing euchre.

Gene was born on October 18, 1943 in Buffalo, New York to the late William E. and Gladys (McKinney) Peacock, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth A. Austermiller and Richard Marshall.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou (Jacobson) Peacock; children, Teresa Baumann (Glenn), Bill Peacock (girlfriend Teri Bennett and her son, Tanner Bennett); six step-children; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
