William "Bill" Patrick Smith

William "Bill" Patrick Smith, a beloved figure in the Louisville community, passed away on March 16, 2025, just one day shy of his 79th birthday. He was born on March 17, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth Smith and May (Cruze) Wardlow. Bill's early years were shaped by his schooling at David Glasgow Farragut High School in Rota, Spain, followed by a pursuit of architecture at the University of Kentucky, where his passion for design began to flourish.

Bill dedicated much of his professional life to his own business, owning and operating Bill Smith's Home Improvements. His commitment to quality and craftsmanship endeared him to many clients and friends within the community. Beyond his career, Bill's spirit was defined by his easy-going nature, good humor, and a big loving heart that could be felt by all who knew him.

A proud veteran, Bill served honorably in the United States Army, where he worked in maintenance engineer on air conditioning units and weapon systems. This experience not only instilled in him a sense of duty but also contributed to the technical skills that he would later apply in his business endeavors.

Bill cherished his time spent with family and friends, particularly enjoying tailgating and attending UK football and basketball games. He had a passion for woodworking and found joy in reading Tom Clancy novels, as well as immersing himself in classic films—old westerns, the original Star Trek series, and Planet of the Apes were among his favorites. These hobbies provided him with great pleasure and were often shared with those closest to him.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Corinne Smith; his children, Adam Smith and Nicole Smith; his brother, Dr. Edward Russell Smith (Beverly); step-brother, William Loeffler (Sherri); and half-brother, Kenneth Smith (Rhonda).

Bill will be remembered not only for his professional talents and interests but also for the warmth he brought to the lives of those around him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Byron D. Smith. His legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

Cremation was chosen and in lieu of services Bill's wishes were for everyone to have a toast to celebrate his life.
