William "Bill" J. Bern, Jr.

William J. Bern Jr, 72 years old, of Louisville, Ky, died Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital surrounded by his family.

Bill was born August 30, 1952 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Ia. in 1974. He then started his career working for CCA for the next 15 years then worked for Weyerhaeuser from 1988 to 1999 as a General Manager. He was best Known for taking unprofitable plants and turning them around to become profitable. He took much pride in his work and loved what he did. He also loved and adored his many English Spaniels he had over the years.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth James, Christina (Eddie) Wilson, and Robert Bern; grandchildren, Brayden and Jackson James, and Pierce, Parker, Logan, and Gage Wilson; his younger sister, Susan Kay (Dwayne) LeBarre; nephews, Christopher Hoyt and Darrick Bern; as well as many friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, William J. Bern Sr.; mother, Ellen Elizabeth Bern; Stepmom, Donna Marie Bern; older sister, Ellen Ann Hoyt; younger brother, Perry Robert Bern; nephew, Daniel Bern.

A celebration of his life will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Dr. Louisville, Ky 40243. The family will receive friends after the service until 7:00 PM that evening at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sioux City, Iowa at a later date.
