William B. Beasy III, or known to his friends as "Bill", was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 10th, 1943. After graduating high school, Bill entered the United States Army in 1961 and served three tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam as a member of the famous "First Calvary Division". He distinguished himself by being awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal among other awards.
After being honorably discharged in 1970, Staff Sergeant Beasy attended college and obtained his teaching degree. Bill went on to teach in the Oldham County School System for the next 32 years. Bill's legacy will continue because of the enrichment he brought to those around him and the lives of thousands of children as a natural science teacher and mentor.
After retiring from teaching, Bill continued to share his love of archeology and geology with the citizens of the Commonwealth, serving as a park ranger for the National Park Service at Mammoth Cave. In his later years, he volunteered as a guide at The Falls of the Ohio State Park.
Bill passed away on February 23rd, 2024, at the age of 80. He was buried with military honors on February 29th, 2024, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife Sue Beasy.
