He was born on November 8, 1964, in La Mesa, California, Will led a life filled with adventure, service, and remarkable achievements.
In his youth, Will enjoyed the idyllic beauty of southern California, spending his days picking fresh oranges in the Orange Groves, hunting for snakes, and exhilarating dirt bike rides through the mountains. These experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature and an adventurous spirit that would accompany him throughout his life.
It was during his time at Brigham Young University that Will crossed paths with the love of his life, Dena Mortenson Engilman. They married in 1990 and together embarked on a journey of love, family, and unwavering support. Will and Dena were blessed with two daughters, Brooke Elise Engilman Cook (husband: J. Tyler Cook) and Emma Nicole Engilman Ferrell (husband: Spencer T. Ferrell), whom they raised in Anchorage, Kentucky.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Will personified Christ's teachings by serving his fellowman. He possessed a remarkable ability to identify suffering or hardship and extend a helping hand, often doing so quietly and without seeking recognition. He first pursued Computer Science at Brigham Young University before pursuing his dream of becoming a dentist. Graduating at the top of his class from the University of Louisville's dental school, Will went on to earn a master's degree in Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina. His dedication to the field was evident as he later became a respected orthodontics professor at the University of Louisville's School of Dentistry.
In addition to his academic achievements, Will was a visionary entrepreneur. He founded the renowned Braces Braces Braces brand, which has expanded to 15 locations across Kentucky, Indiana, and Texas. As President and Chief Information Officer of Mortenson Dental Partners, Will's expertise and leadership contributed to the growth and success of the organization. He also served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Kentucky Association of Orthodontists, leaving a lasting impact on the dental community.
Throughout his career, Will utilized his knowledge and skills to improve the lives of countless patients, colleagues, students, and peers. His commitment to excellence, combined with his genuine care for others, left an indelible mark on those he encountered.
