Waynette Scott

Waynette Scott, 71, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024.

She was born on September 3, 1952 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Wayne Gambill and Jane Gibson Gambill.

Waynette is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Bob Scott; daughter, Brittany Wilson (Les); son, Whit Scott (Elissa); son, Nick Scott (Sarah); brother, Mark Gambill (Devita); and grandchildren, Ava Wilson, Adeline Scott and Henry Scott as well as her beloved dogs, Lilly and Hunter.

Waynette graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Textile Merchandising in 1974. Waynette married Bob in June 1974. They moved to various cities for Bob's job before settling in southern Indiana in 1989 to raise their 3 children. When all 3 of her children were in school, Waynette returned to school in the early 1990s to pursue her an Accounting degree. After graduation, Waynette passed all 4 stages of the CPA exam on her first attempt! Waynette worked at various local companies finishing as the CFO for First Class Air Support in Louisville. Waynette was happiest when she was taking care of others especially her loved ones.

Waynette was a force of nature as well as an angel on earth. She was an amazing listener and always knew when to listen or to help you work through a problem. Waynette loved her family fiercely. She also loved being a mother and grandmother. Her face would light up when talking to or about her grandchildren. She loved her chosen family as well. If you grew up with Brittany, Whit or Nick, you knew you had a second home when you walked into her house.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Waynette's wishes.
