Wayne M Wilson

Wayne "Whip" Wilson dedicated husband, father of 2, grandfather of 5 and friend to many-passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of 78 in Louisville, KY.

Wayne was born in Louisville on May 14,1944 and stayed there until moving to Lafayette, IN in the eighth grade. He graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School in 1962 where he was a basketball player and named to the Indiana Allstar Team. He then went to Vincennes University where he played basketball and met the love of his life Kathy. They married in 1966 and soon after he got his degree from The University of Louisville.

They settled in Louisville where Amy and Sara were born. Wayne still loved to play basketball (Wayne was a proud member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame), softball and later in life golf but mostly spending time with his family. Wayne never missed a sporting event or activity that his children or grandchildren participated in and was an enthusiastic coach/spectator when there.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathy; their children Amy Coombs (John) and Sara Rhodes (Glenn) and his five grandchildren, Keenan, Harper, Sarai, Wilson and Laurel.

Wayne will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We will have a celebration of life for Wayne at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville.
