Wayne Locke, Sr.

Joseph Wayne Locke, Sr., 64, of Louisville Kentucky, passed away on March 12, 2025.

Wayne was born September 22, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to Joseph Scott and Dorothy Locke. He was a loving husband to his wife Marcia and devoted father to his children, Joseph W. Locke, Jr., Alicia D. Ewing, Alexandria R. Locke (Richie Williams) and Anthony D. Locke. Wayne was also a very proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren; Joe Joe, R'iyanna, Richon, Jaceon, Chris, Harmony, Camille, Cameron, Abryana, and Bryson.

He was a graduate of Ballard High School where he received his diploma. Wayne had several occupations but his love was cooking. He was an assistant chef at the Galt House for many years. He took a break from cooking and did warehouse work, meat cutter, cement and shipping.

Wayne loved to get on the floor and play with his grandkids, as they would jump all over him. Wayne learned a saying that he learned from his momma "The life you save may be your own." He probably said that at least once to everyone he knew.

Wayne is survived by his wife Marcia; children, Joe, Jr. Alicia, Alexandria and Anthony; grandchildren, Joe Joe, lll, R'iyanna, Richon, Jaceon, Chris, Harmony, Camille, Cameron, Abryana, and Bryson; brothers, Keith Locke, Anthony Scott, Charles Scott, Joe Scott, and Timmy Scott; sister, Kimberly Locke Ray (Robert).

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Sally Callaway; dad, Joseph Scott; mom, Dorothy Locke; brother, Richard Locke; sister Deanna Locke; and sister, Glynis Locke.

Visitation for Wayne will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Wayne's life beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions Southwest Chapel. Following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest the same day at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
