Wayne "Shank" Cunningham

Wayne "Shank" Cunningham, 54, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend he loved his family more than anything and would do anything for them. He was an avid UofL fan through and through and he never missed a game. He always enjoyed cooking, working on cars, riding bikes, and watching UofL basketball. You always knew Wayne by his UofL hat. He always loved music and he always had a smile on his face. Wayne will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the pleasure and honor of meeting him.

He was born on July 5, 1966 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Mary (Cunningham) Persley. He is preceded in death by his father, John Ed Persley and mother, Mary Elizabeth Cunningham.

Dewayne is survived by his loving family, children, Whitney Denise Irvine, Takia Irvine, and David Keen; grandson, Learion Irvine; siblings, Derrick (Deborah) Cunningham, Anthony Cunningham, Tracey Cunningham, Patricia Ann (George) Baber, and James Edward Cunningham. As well as a host of other family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Miracle Temple Church of God and Christ, (2208 Dixie Hwy Louisville, KY 40210). His Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, at Miracle Temple Church of God and Christ with cremation to follow.

The family requests that contributions in Dewayne's memory be made to the family.
