Walter Lee Jones

Walter Lee Jones, 87, passed away on September 19, 2014. He was a United States Navy veteran that proudly served his country during WWII. He was a hard worker his entire life, enjoyed being outdoors and loved working in his garden.

He was born on November 3, 1926 in Shelbyville, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Amanda (Allnutt) Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Harrell) Jones; and son, Richard Jones.

Walter is survived by his loving companion, Charlotte Sharp; children, Donna Kiesler (Kevin), Rev. Phillip Jones (Cindy), Karen Spear, Janlea Lackey (Micah); step-son, Cody Sharp; siblings, Jean Hardin, Shirley Young, Don Jones, Mary Woods, Lynn "Sonny" Jones (Beverly); 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 3 to 6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). His Graveside Service with military honors will be on Monday at 10 AM at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
