Walter Kendrick Smith, Sr.

Walter K. Smith, Sr., 74, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He was an avid gardener and an extremely talented mechanic.
Walter was born on February 2, 1939 in Adairville, Kentucky to the late Clinton B. Smith and Eleanor (Kendrick) Smith Cotton. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Rena McPhetters, James Smith, and Ethel Bellamy.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Jackson, Walter K. Smith, Jr. (Christy), Denise Kuykendoll (Randy), Eleanor Smith, Kathleen Hipsher (Wendell), Eddie Smith; siblings, Clinton, Cordell, Henry, Mary Smith, Peggy White, Geneva Fields, Eva Hunter, Margaret Croudep, Patricia Robinson; 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday, September 6, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at Greater Mount Zion Apostolic Church (3845 Wayne Street, New Albany) with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
