Walter "Pete" Farris, 82, passed away on May 26, 2014. Pete was born on November 1, 1931, in Huntsville, Alabama, and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, as a young man. In his early 20's, he moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and opened his own furniture store. Hoe loved to watch his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon, race to the finish line. He enjoyed every minute with his loving wife, Mabel.
He was the third of nine children of the late Ollie and Sarah Farris.
His is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mabel Farris; sister, Martha Ann Jackson of Huntsville, Alabama; a special niece, that he loved like a sister, Clara Mae Kelly of Huntsville, Alabama; and step-children, Ila Nagle, Leslie Hall and Steve Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation for Pete will be Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, with services beginning at 3:00 p.m.
