Walter Irvin Coomer

Walter Irvin "Pete" Coomer, 79, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Pete was a retired truck driver, who owned and operated Soaring Eagle Transport. He was a man of faith who enjoyed reading his Bible and praying.

He was born on October 16, 1942, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Leon and Dorothy (King) Coomer.

Pete is survived by his wife, Kathy Coomer; daughter, Cheryl (Philip) Kruer; son, Dennis (Mary Ellen) Coomer; stepdaughter, Shonnet Bair (Sean); stepson, Todd (Lora) Hensley; sisters, Delores McNally and Martha Brock; grandchildren, Abbigail Kruer, Pete Coomer, Gregg (Ashleigh-Jo) Kruer, Shannon (Phil) Hibbert, and Audrey Kruer; great-grandchildren, Asher and Greigh Kruer; and great-granddaughter, Malia Hibbert, on the way.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery in New Albany.
