Walter E. Cook, Jr.

October 29, 1954 — December 31, 2024

New Albany, Indiana

Walter E. Cook, Jr., passed away on December 31, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on October 29, 1954, Walter lived a life enriched by his love for family and the simple pleasures of life.

Walter was a large man whose children leaned on like a stone wall in times of need. He appreciated fishing on his bass boat in the open waters, drinking Budweiser, driving his old blue Chevy truck before upgrading to the Ram truck, and watching his favorite TV programs while sitting in his recliner.

Walter is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Fay Cook, and their three children, Chris Cook, Sondra Cook, and Nathaniel Cook. He was a loving grandfather to Lydia Cook and Gunnar Martin, who brought him immeasurable joy. Walter is also survived by his mother, Shirley Zwicker; siblings, Donnie Cook and Donna Metcalf; step-mother, Patricia Cook; and his many nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry fond memories of their time with him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Cook, Sr.; step-father, Bud Zwicker; and brother-in-law, Tony Metcalf.
