Walter J. "Butch" Krieger, Jr., 75, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022. Butch was a decorated motorsports announcer with a career that spanned nearly five decades. His accomplishments lead him across the country with a microphone and his family. Butch was proud to be inducted into the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame (2012), Kentucky Colonel and Honorary Commissioner of Agriculture (2019), and the NWOTPA Hall of Fame (2022), as well as serving as the voice of the NFMS Championship Tractor Pull. He proudly worked as a salesman for Plumbers Supply for over 40 years and was a coach of youth sports in his community.
He was born on May 2, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Walter "Bud" Krieger, Sr., and Dorothy Miles Krieger. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Donna (Boaz) Krieger.
Butch is survived by his children, Jennifer (Michael) Krieger Caffrey, Jeremy (Lori Ann) Krieger, and Miles (Allie) Krieger; grandchildren, Grace, Madeline, and Nolan Riley, Bradley and Cecilia Krieger, and Landrey, Lynnly, and Lachlan Krieger; sister, Sandra (Bill) Frank; brother-in-law, Stewart Boaz; and loving companion, Ruth Shumaker and her children, Stacy (Nick) Mayfield and Crystal (Jamie) Schindler.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial in the church cemetery.
