Walter "Ben" Kelley, age 66 returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 30, 2014. He was an Army Veteran where he served from 1965-68. During that time, he served as a Crew Chief in the 7/17th Air Cavalry in Vietnam, flying many missions in Hueys and Loches. Ben had a long career as an automotive technician, followed by 3 years as a JCPS bus driver. Finally in his retirement, Ben was a security officer at TARC. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick Kelley; his mother, Kathryn Main; his nephew Stephan Drabb; and his niece Shanna Dinwiddie.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Suzanne Korte Kelley; children, Shannon Kelley and Brian Kelley (fiancé, Renae Shaw); grandchildren, Patrick Burke, Shaun Burke, Nathan Kelley; sister, Jimelou Dinwiddie; brother-in-law, Kevin Korte, Sr. (Terrie); sister-in-law, Linda Martin (Jim); nieces, Diane Drabb, Christie Potter and Rachel Korte; nephews, Kevin Korte, Jr. and Tommy Dinwiddie. He is also survived by his beloved kitties, Pepper, Blondie and Frankie, and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of Ben's life will be 10am Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow in Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Highway 208 in Lebanon, KY. at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8pm at the funeral home.
