Vivian Marie (Scrivner) Barbour

Vivian Marie (Scrivner) Barbour, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Vivian loved to travel and go out to eat. She enjoyed playing the piano and was known for giving family history lessons. Vivian was a Jehovah's Witness by faith and was a two-time breast cancer survivor. Vivian was a devoted mother and grandmother; she deeply loved her family.

She was born on September 27, 1937, in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Prudie (Turner) Scrivner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Barbour, Sr.; daughter, Gail Hipsher; brothers, Kenneth Scrivner and James Scrivner; grandchild, David Barbour; and great-grandchild, Devin Swann.

Vivian is survived by her children, Charles (Teresa) Barbour, Jr., Eric (Teresa) Barbour, and Sonja Barbour; grandchildren, Dewayne Barbour, Joslyn Carr, Gregory Barbour, Ta'Nita Hipsher, and Whitney (Jonathan) Kaplan; great-grandchildren, Ta'Mya Brown, Damiean Brown, Demetrius Brown, and Ashlyn Barbour; and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her funeral service taking place at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
