Virginia M. (Leach) Cole, 83, of Pekin, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, July 12, 2010 in Salem, Indiana. She was an avid reader and a Baptist by faith.
Virginia was born on September 5, 1926 to the late Willis R. and Lucy O. (Smith) Leach in Ohio County, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard N. Cole, and daughter, Sharon L. Gumm.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra A. Heil, and her husband, Jim, of Salem; siblings, Ercie Leach and his wife, Dorrine, Hubert Leach and his wife, Stewart, Willis Leach, Jr., and his wife, Elaine, Pastor Logan Leach, Beverly Hiatt and her husband, Jim, Joan Hobdy and her husband, Jackie, and Barbara Sylvestor and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Kelley Trimble and her husband, Terry, Brian Head and his fiancé, Kara, Cara Martin and her husband, David, Allison Zanchi and her husband, Matt, and James Heil and his wife, Keisha; and seven great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jerry Gumm of Louisville.
The visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana (formerly Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Her funeral service will take place at 1 PM Thursday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
