Virginia Ann (Hurst) Burns

Virginia Ann (Hurst) Burns, 89, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was a lifelong member of Daisy Hill United Methodist Church. Virginia enjoyed cooking, baking, and going to yard sales.

She was born on December 16, 1933, in Borden, Indiana, to Tom and Ruth (Mull) Hurst. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Parnell Burns; and brothers, Tommy, Wayne, Noble, Glen, and Randy Hurst.

Virginia is survived by her children, Gene Burns (Lou), Fred Burns (Phyllis), and Sherry Cheatham (Calvin); grandchildren, Gary Burns, Greg Burns, Travis Cheatham, Toby Cheatham, and Angie Weatherford; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Eldon Hurst, Dave Hurst, and Beulah Bowling; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Daisy Hill Cemetery, Borden, Indiana.
