Virgil Lee Seay, 70, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He retired from the Floyd County Probation Office after 35 years of service and was a United States Army veteran. Virgil enjoyed fishing, loved to go bowling, and was a member at Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in New Albany.
Virgil was born on January 7, 1944 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Phillip L. McNeary, Sr. and Virginia Seay. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle D. Byas; brother, Rodney McNeary; stepmother, Mildred McNeary; and stepfather, Gilbert Odom.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra L. (Williams) Seay; children, Colleen Blake (Claude), Darren Seay (Lisa), Felicia Seay, Alicia Seay, Gregory Seay, Lori Thomas, and DeEtte Harris; brothers, Phillip McNeary, Jr. (Linda), Robert Seay, Robert Smith, Kevin Odom, David Odom; mother-in-law, Mary E. Thomas; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and good friends.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 12 PM at his church. His Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM Thursday at Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church (258 Ealy Street, New Albany, IN 47150) with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery.
