Violet Lee Collins Oakes, 89, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 24, 1922 in Portland, Kentucky, to the late Thomas O. & Ermina Catherine (Jones) Collins. In addition to her parents, Violet is preceded in death by her 4 brothers.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Janice Gray; her grandson, James A. Jones (Charlotte); her granddaughter, Lee Ann Jones; and her great granddaughters, Christin & Jessica.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Portland Cemetery in Portland, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations by made to the American Cancer Society.
