Viola J.(Lammers) Kreke

Viola J. "Ve" (Lammers) Kreke, 99, went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2013 at Springhurst Health and Rehab Center in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on March 19, 1914, in Huntingburg, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and her son, David.

After growing up in Huntingburg, Indiana, Ve came to Louisville, Kentucky in 1934 and retired from the K&I Railroad in 1979. She was a member of the First Church of God of New Albany where she was a long time organist. Her family resided in the Riedlonn Subdivision for nearly 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean, two granddaughters, Angela Scarberry (Tim) and Laura Priddy (Jerry), two great-grandsons, Austin and Joshua Priddy, a step great-granddaughter, Isabella Scarberry, and two nephews, Jerry Kreke and Richard Kreke.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany) and after 10 AM on Wednesday. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg, Indiana.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Church of God (2248 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN 47150) or the Louisville Free Public Library (301 York Street, Louisville, KY 40203).
