Vincent William Stumler, 92, of Starlight, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The oldest of 16 children, Vincent was instrumental in building the family farm. Along with his interest in farming, Vincent retired as a machinist after 35 years from Sunoco in New Albany.
He was born on November 2, 1931 in Starlight, Indiana to Elmer and Rosalena (Koetter) Stumler. In addition to his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by his wife of over 61 years, Mary Lou (Kaestner) Stumler; daughter-in-law, Jo Ellen Stumler; and siblings, Kenneth, Norman, Catherine, Anita, Andrew and Eugene.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Martha Missi Stumler; sons, Larry, David (Diane), Michael (Darlene), Kevin (Julianna), Christopher (Tracey) Stumler; sisters, Sr. Geneva "Evelyn" Stumler OSB, Bernice Condra (Joe), Leona Gibson (Zach), Geneva Boone (Bob), Helen Ziegler (Jim); brothers, Irvin (Pat Leist), Melvin (Nancy), Stephen (Cheri), Anthony Stumler (Louise); sisters-in-law, Judy Jacobi, Sharon, Marcella, Debbie Stumler; grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Pat, Theresa, Elizabeth, Dallas, Charlene, Andrea, Cynthia, Diana, Erin, Evan, Micah, William, Noah; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John Road, Starlight, IN 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
