Victor L. Abrams, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born on December 14, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky to Fred O. and Mary V. (Hoover) Abrams.
Victor was a loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal friend, a beloved brother, an incredible businessman and an exceptionally generous man. He received his high school education from Butler High School and went on to further his education at JCC and the University of Louisville. He proudly served as a Helicopter Crew Chief in the United States Marine Corps Light Helicopter Squadron (HML) 167, Marine Air Group (MAG) 16. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After returning home from service, he founded his business, Victor L. Abrams General Contractor, Inc., which later became well known throughout Louisville as “Abrams Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc”. Victor was well known for his generosity. He helped mentor many young men, helping them get their start in the service industry. He never felt other companies were competition. He said, “Other businesses in our industry are not our competition, there is enough work for everyone”. It is not about having it all for yourself, it is about everyone having plenty”. In 1987, Victor was pivotal in establishing the GLRCA, Greater Louisville Roofing Contractors Association. He loved his industry and fellow contractors and worked to create a cohesive family environment amongst them. Victor was well respected and gave jobs to people when there were no jobs to be had. If a family member was out of work or laid off, he was employing them and happy to do it. Victor is deeply loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. He was a pillar in this community and made Louisville a better place. His attributes are many and his love for others immense.
