Vernon Earl Potts

Vernon Earl Potts, 85, of Taylorsville, husband of Carol Potts, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Born April 21, 1938, he was a son of the late Gordon and Alice Briener Potts.
He was a retired police officer with Jefferson County Police Department, where he served for 22 and ½ years, and was an Army Veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 288, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, where he raised approximately one million dollars. He has served in the capacity of Police Officer, Intelligence, Special Investigations, and was also Police Officer of the Year.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Albert Potts; and four sisters, Dorothy Potts, Lillian Lee, Aleen Potts and Mary Potts.
Other than his wife Carol of 58 years, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Wendy Board; his grandchildren, Seth Deckard (Julia) and Benjamin Deckard; his great granddaughter, Baylee Belmont; his brother, John Potts and his sister, Joan Logsdon.
The family has chosen cremation, and a celebration of Vernon's life will be held at a later date.
