Verne Wayne Reas, 90, passed away on September 17, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.

He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 28, 1923 to the late Elmer Reas & Mildred (Watson) Wilson. Wayne was a veteran of The United States Army, serving during World War II, and a member of the VFW Post #1693. He retired from International Harvester after over 30 years of service. Wayne was an avid gardener and was very proud of the awards he won for having the largest tomatoes in the area.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emma (Foreman) Reas; daughter, Stephanie Steinmetz (Michael); son, Brian Reas (Charlotte); siblings, Beverly Vissing (Sonny), David Reas, & Steve Reas; grandchildren, Korey, Connor, Cameron, Devin, Skyler, & Brandon.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). His Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville, KY with full military honors being conducted.
