Velma Jean Beams

Velma Jean Beams, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023. Velma enjoyed spending time gardening and loved flowers, especially roses. She was a talented hairdresser and always looked her best with her hair styled and her makeup done. Velma loved food, especially sweets of all kinds. She enjoyed camping with her late husband, Wayne. Most importantly Velma loved her family. She loved spending time with them and enjoyed family gatherings. Velma will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on February 21, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to Bertha Rice. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Rice; husband, Wayne Allen Beams; and sisters, Betty Miller and Mayme Milby.

Velma is survived by her loving family, children, Valerie Hackney, David Beams, Donna Beams; grandchildren, Jessica (Shane) Kiger, Ryan Bittorf, Scott (Amber) Beams, Kayla Seibert; nephew, Tommy (Sandy) Miller; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. Her Funeral Service will be on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky .
