Veachel R. (Wilkerson) Underwood, 80, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pekin.
Veachel was born on May 23, 1933 in Taylor County, Kentucky to the late Willie C. and Ada M. (Lemons) Wilkerson. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Burton "Burt" Underwood; sister, Velma Opal Catlett; and brothers, Jesse and Robert Wilkerson.
She is survived by her children, Patty Bryant (Steve) and Bill Underwood (Jackie); grandchildren, Kayla Bryant (fiancé, Alex), Derek Bryant (Michelle), and Joshua Underwood (Emily); and great grandchildren, Raiden Burton Bryant and Noah Anthony Fundora.
Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Tuesday after 12 PM. Her Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 2 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Bethel Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (701 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Louisville, KY 40203).
