Vashti Virginia (Haas) Brocar

Vashti Virginia (Haas) Brocar, 90, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. She had worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, served as the store manager at Stumler Orchard, and was an active member of Carr Township Baptist Church. Vashti had also served as a leader in 4-H, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts.

She was born on September 1, 1931, in Sellersburg, Indiana. Vashti was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jane (Waltman) Haas; husband, Robert Brocar, Sr.; sisters, Juanita Heubi, Barbara Haworth, and Bonnie Isaac; and grandson, Christopher Jones.

Vashti is survived by her children, Linda Jones (Larry), Juanita Hobbs (Jerry), Jenny Crandall (Tim), Rose Thomas (Doug), Robert "Bobby" Brocar, Jr. (Tina), and Gary Brocar (Susan); sisters, Jill Mallory and Paulina Baxter; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Home Instead and Kindred Hospice for the love and care they provided to Vashti over the last several months.
