Troy Clark

September 2, 1947 — November 24, 2023

Entrepreneur Troy Clark, 76, long-time resident of Floyds Knobs, died November 24th of a cardiovascular event at the Villas of Guerin Woods. Troy is survived by his daughter, Connie Clark-Meredith; his grandchildren, Brittany Singer, Alex Meredith, Joey Singer, Taylor Meredith, Jacob Singer and Peyton Meredith; his great-grandchildren; Ethan Bridgewater, Nolan Lennan, Remmington Meredith, Raelynn Meredith and Wesson Meredith all of Southern Indiana; and his sister, Melinda Clark of St. Louis.

Troy was predeceased by M. Daphne Clark (mother), Ernest R.Clark (father) and Yvonne Singer, 51 years old (daughter).

Troy was born in Louisville, Kentucky and lived his early life in Pekin, Indiana. He was a graduate of Bruce High School in Bruce, Wisconsin. He served in the United States Army for four years in Germany.

He was proud to be the founder and owner of Master Maintenance, Inc. and enjoyed serving clients such as banks and medical practices throughout Kentuckiana for more than 50 years. If your doctor's office sparkled, it was likely a client of Master Maintenance. His exacting standards and attention to detail also prevented the spread of infection and his staff was well-regarded in the niche of medical cleanliness.

He was a tireless worker, but made it home in time for The Rockford Files.

In his capacity as a successful business owner, he provided employment for hundreds of local workers and trained many local teens in their first jobs. One of them, a sailor who went on to study at the United States Naval Academy, said the military didn't teach him anything about sparkle and shine that he didn't already know from working for Troy. He laughed that his superiors in Annapolis were easier to please than Troy.

Troy's charm and charisma meant that he never met a stranger and he had a record of building friendships that last. As a child, he visited the elderly in Pekin to help them with projects around their home. Most recently, at the Villas of Guerin Woods, Troy brought joy to his neighbors in assisted living. The care team there reported that mealtime prior to Troy's arrival was very quiet, and several folks preferred to eat in their rooms.

But after he hit the scene, Troy had a full house at the table and helped bring special items to "his girls" of the villa if they wanted extra sugar packets, etc. He also cleared the table to "help out" and started the trend of doing laps around the villa to keep himself active and to encourage others.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the colleagues at The Villas of Guerin Woods for their exceptional care. It was hard for Troy to be there versus at home, but they surrounded him with care and concern and became an important part of his life. Also, a special thank you to Norton Health Care for their outstanding program at Norton Neuroscience Institute, Brownsboro. The clinical team is unsurpassed in treating dementia and helping patients and family understand and manage the impact of the disease.

Godspeed to our father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. We love and will miss you and know you will keep the angels laughing. We know that heaven will somehow be clean enough to suit even you. Visitation is at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28th.
