Tommy Charles Ayers, Jr.

Tommy Charles Ayers, Jr., 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from Reynolds Aluminum. Tommy enjoyed camping, woodworking and making crafts.

He was born on October 28, 1939 in Lee County, Virginia to Tommy, Sr. and Mae (Edens) Ayers. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Fuson) Ayers; sons, Tommy Ayers III, Jeffrey Ayers; and siblings, Phyllis Burns and Aubrey Ayers.

The "grumpy old man" is survived and loved by his children, Tonda Wilhoite (Sam), Brian Ayers, Chris Ayers, Paula Ayers, Todd Ayers (Amanda); seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Clarine Ayers-Blair (James), Norman Ayers (Bea), David Ayers, Wayne Ayers (Cathy), Denny Ayers (Pat) and Michael Ayers (Maya).

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow Horner's Chapel Cemetery in Palmyra, Indiana.
