Timmy A. Abney, 53, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Timmy was born in Nurnberg, Bavaria Germany, the son of Paul and Jane Abney. He was a military baby and became a naturalized American citizen after birth, spending his childhood in various cities in Indiana and Kentucky, before making his permanent home as an adult in New Albany, Indiana.
Timmy married Tammy Burns on September 21, 2013. They were childhood sweethearts that found each other again years later and continued their love story until the end. Timmy loved being married and treasured their lives together. Marriage and family meant everything to him.
Timmy loved anything science fiction and fantasy. He liked to read Iasac Asimov stories and loved Star Wars almost as much as Star Trek. He loved Dungeons and Dragons, role playing computer games, and any board game he played during family game nights.
Timmy, born catholic, was not practicing as an adult. He did believe in God and had a personal relationship with Jesus. Most importantly though, he believed in being good to others. He radiated that goodness.
Timmy did not have children of his own, but that didn't stop him from being a father figure to his younger siblings. He was a foster parent, but also cared for any children that came into his life. He always showed up and made sure his love was felt. He leaves behind nieces and nephews that will never forget the lasting impression he left on their lives.
Remaining to cherish Timmy's memory are his wife, Tammy; step-son, Cody Burns; father, Paul Abney; sisters, Faith Cook and Cynthia Satterly; brother, James Abney; brother-in-law, Robert Cook; nieces, Mary Beth McConnell, Elizabeth and Gabriella Abney, Elizabeth Butcher (Chris), and Adalyn Cook; nephew, Tyler McConnell; two great-nephews, Christopher Butcher and Latham McConnell; and his cat whom he adored, Ally.
Preceding Timmy in death are his mother, Jane Abney; and brother, William Abney.
