Thomas Wayne Yeager

Thomas Wayne Yeager, 97, of New Albany, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 24, 2023. Tom was born on March 25, 1926 in Somerville, Indiana to Charles and Marie (Kelle) Yeager. After graduating from Oakland City High School in May 1943, he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps pilot training (in Terre Haute, IN, Ottumwa, IA and Corpus Christie, TX). After being discharged at the war's end, he immediately married his high school sweetheart, Luana Goldman, in June 1945.

With the education from his pilot training and the GI bill, he was able to enter Indiana State University as a junior. His first job as a vocational education teacher was in Peru, IN, where he taught 8 years. In 1959 he moved to New Albany High School and started the Building Trades program there and later at Prosser Vocational Center, teaching a total of 28 years.

Tom and Luana had 3 sons: Dan, Steve, and Mike. Luana passed away in June 2007. In January 2009, at the age of 82, Tom married Cleo Jones of New Albany. They celebrated their anniversary monthly since they didn't know how many years they would have at their ages! But they enjoyed 12 happy years together.

In 1971 Tom surrendered his life to Jesus. He was always thankful to his Lord and Savior for the many blessings in his life.

Along with his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his first wife, Luana; his second wife, Cleo; and his sister, June Richardson.

He is survived by his sons, Dan (Sherry) Yeager, Steve (Debbie) Yeager, and Mike (Theresa) Yeager; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will follow at 6:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany.
